  • Major tidal wave devastates Southeast Asia. Waves up to 30 ft...

Rest in peace to all who have fallen and may them and the survivors be blessed....

  • So...

Believe it or not I celebrated a birthday and I actually enjoyed it, unlike my other birthdays.

It started on Dec. 22nd 2004, after a gruelling anatomy final, we all came back to my room chilled and then took a well deserved nap. Anik rolls in to my room around 6:30-7pm and yells at me to wake up, I reply "No" as usual... then I think he kicked me. Got ready and went with Amit to the train cause we needed to get to the bar early. I def had to get the early since it was my party and I knew PK would be on time. Amit and I took a couple of drinks for the ride on the LIRR so we got a good start.

We get to the city walking towards the lounge and who do see on the street Krzystof and Tom, friends of mine from Staten Island. We get to the lounge and low and behold PK and TL are there. At present there about 10 people inside, so we get started (if you dont know what that means, there is a reason for it). As the minutes passed more and more people came in. Binu showed up with his boy, friends of mine from Binghamton, Kavita, Sant and Kevin  (later Febin, Chuck and Suresh came through)... so the place was starting to fill up. My sister, my two cousins came through and HAS and her sister came through, people very happy to see since I have not seen them in about a year. My friends from school came through, they were delayed cause they were chilling at The Purv's house. I was getting pretty jacked up at this point, as Anik, Goose, Arun, Flaming, Ehsan, Ramin, Nicole and all the people from Purv's house came through. In addition my brother came by with some of his doc friends...

Me trying act like Arun, personally I dont know what Anik is doing (he's from Kenya I guess its normal). Arun and Goose chillin...

Before I continue, thank you PK for taking such great photos, cause I know wouldnt of remembered to use it. Right around this time Flaming, at the picture right above, looked a little buzzed but this didnt last too long, sadily enough. Also I was interested why Stash was not there and no one had an explanation, and I voiced this to everyone... finally he came with Aaliyah and he lifted me off the ground. See here:

Yea so I was still in a very good mood, but right after Stash lifting me, we noticed that Flamin was on the floor, which raised a problem, cause got kicked out. Where we took him outside and cracked on him while he was unconscience.

As we were trying to help me out someone took a video of Flamin and well I dont wanna share that hear cause its too funny and needs to be censored. Meanwhile I thought I didnt know where my camera was, PK was not holding it and nor was anyone else, so it raised some and concern and doubt in me. Ive lost my cell phone just a month ago so I was having little faith in my ability to hold on to possessions. So for about a half hour people are looking for camera and eventually I stand up and go into my pocket and low and behold, there it was. Needless to say my friends were rather infuriated with me.

Also during the party for everyone in my school I played two very specific songs that you can label as Term 1 Tracks, "Kya Soorat Hai" by Bombay Vikings and "Gol" by 3, 5, 7. Two very different songs, the former being a Hindi song, the latter a Serbian Soccer Chant. When those songs played everyone when insane, especially Anik, Stash and myself. Needless to say the lounge was completed packed at this point.

Here are some more pics from the gathering:

So pretty much PK was getting tired of this retardness so we bounced, nice enough of my sister to drop us back to my dorm. Pretty much at that point I was so dead tired from not sleeping the last couple of days I fell asleep once the pillow hit my head.

I know there are a lot of holes to the story, PK you can watever you like and actually I encourage it.

The next morning we were forced out of the dorms, and I was driving Anik back to his Uncle's house so the car was gonna be pretty crowded. Well that was an event in itself, but rather enjoyable... just looking at Anik and how he had to sit for 1/2 hour is pretty funny.

Then I went home to do the fam thing, which was chill. I had a relative of mine from India there and my Aunt and cousin came through.

Notcie how the writing of Happy Birthday is in pink, isnt that special.

I can easily say this was my best birthday by far. I have great friends surrounding me that complement my amazing family... and on top of all of that I have PK which has been a gift...

    23 ON THE 23rd

December 14, 2004

  • I noticed how I everyone enjoyed my last post... so you def gonna enjoy this...

Pedro Martinez is on the METS.... HELL YEAH....

Well its actually not the best the Mets could have made, but it definetly makes headlines. Taking a 33 year old pitcher on the bottom half of his career, essentially arm that is about to fall off. To get him they guaranteed him $50 million dollars for 4 years, with incentives that brings it up to $56 million, which is two more guaranteed years than anyone else wanted to give Martinez. Since his stamina is wearing down he has about 2 good years left. So the Mets are paying him 4 years worth for 2 years and the Mets have money to do this, which is not a problem.

This shows the league that the Mets want to win and soon.... which could convince other good players to come to the Mets. WE CAN ONLY HOPE.

The Mets still need an Right-Fielder, and First Baseman that have power. Another goal is to trade Cliff Floyd (LF) to relieve some money.... possibly for Manny Ramirez, which would be an excellent addition.... so stay tuned.

  • Phosphorylase Kinase.... I mean PK, is the bomb. Thas a biochem joke just so you know. Also for any would-be doctors, you have to understand that med students study hard and party harder... but dont fret if you dont now, you will when you get to med school.

Some of my people after our Unified Quiz:

Sports is prolly one of my biggest passions in my life, especially baseball... And you're prolly thinking baseball is in the summer, no one follows it in the winter, well you would be wrong. There is no salary cap in baseball, and pretty much any trade can happen at any time compared to other sports which do not have as much flexibility. Also in baseball you dont have to worry too much about schemes or chemistry on your team, a player plays his position and hits the ball as well as he can. As long as you have 8 good fielders, 5 pitchers and other players to adaquately fill in, you can have a good team. But because there is so much flexibility, especially monetarily, teams with the most money usually are favored. In baseball there is a lot of competition moreso then any other sport because there are only 8 total playoff berths, compared to NBA (16 teams), NFL (12 teams), NHL (16 teams). So to have a chance to win the championship you have to be very good. In the MLB, the Red Sox, Yankees, Braves, Angels, Dodgers, Astros, Cardinals have payrolls of $75 million/year all made the playoffs. These teams take up 7 of the top 13 payrolls in baseball. You can also be a very good judge of young talent, pay them less, and hope that they play well enough to compete, which some teams are forced to do because of increasing salaries for players. So over the offseason, anything goes, even the best players can be traded to another team to either cut down a team's expensives or to have enough money to pay a high-profile free agent, so there is a lot to watch.

So, pretty much I am biggest Mets fan in the probably the world. And right now the next season, barring major injuries (which always happens to the Mets), will be better than last year. In 2000, the Mets lost to the Yanks in the World Series, which seems like ages ago, have faltered since. They have three straight 90 loss seasons, which is very poor, even though they spend about $100 million. So after this past season, they dumped their entire management and the present General Manager, Omar Minaya is trying his best to make major moves. And the Mets are forced to make major moves because crosstown rivals, the Yankees, have enormous payroll (double last year of the Mets), which allows them to get nearly any player they desire. So for the past 4 years the Mets have made many advances, but because of injuries, veterns past their prime, and loss of some talented prospects, these deals have been reflected as poor. Each individual offseason for the Mets has been good, except for 2000 when they did not sign A-Rod, because they made transactions that would help them quickly not in the long run, which you need to do in NY, but the overall 4 years has been disastrous.

I check about 5 websites everyday, just in hope that the Mets have made a move that will help towards success. But most players either want to go to a team in contention (in the present, which the Mets are not) or where they can make a lot of money. Well the Mets have money but are overpaying numerous veterns that do not allow them to get expensive players.

So pretty much, another medicore season for the Mets, and me complaining until they back to the World Series....

According to some math that I did, it looks like the Mets might get back to the World Series in 2011... so lets just hope for that. And since I love all parts of baseball, I'm gonna make my own 2005 preview of MLB, cause I have a sickness, I know most teams very well.... yea so pretty much I have to get my priorities in order.

  • This weekend was amazing, I didnt think the relationship I have with PK could grow any further, but this weekend it def raised another level.

    I am song.

    I communicate in song.

    I am song.

This song I have overplaying for the last two months, its creeping its way into the Top 5 of my favorites list. Live this song and you will never stop pressing repeat.

PK and I are this song.

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
    In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
    Away from here

    Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

    Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
    I nearly do

    Light up...

    Slower slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

    Have heart my dear
    We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess

  • This song has been running through my head all day, anybody know wat its called and who its by? Of course I know cause I know everything...

Honey, check it out, you got me mesmerized
With your black hair and fat-ass thighs
    Street poetry is my everyday
But yo, I gotta stop when you trot my way
If I was workin at the club you would not pay
Aiyyo, my man Phife, dig it, he got somthin to say

I like em brown, yellow, Puero Rican or Hatian
Name is Phife Dawg from the Zulu Nation
Told you in the jam that We Can Get Down
Now let's Knock the Boots like the group H-Town
You got BBD all on your bedroom wall
But I'm Above the Rim and this is how I ball
A pretty little somethin on the New York street
This is how I represent over this here beat
    Talkin bout you

    Yo, I took you out
But sex was on my mind for the whole damn route
My mind was in a frenzy and a horny state
But I couldn't drop dimes cause *you couldnt relate*

Stretch out your legs, let me make you bawl
Drive you insane, drive you up the wall
Starin at your dome-piece, very strong
Stronger than cries, stronger than Teflon
Take you on the ave and you buy me links
Now I wanna pound the putang until it stinks
You can be my mama and I'll be your boy

Original rude boy, never am I coy
You can be a shorty in my ill convoy
Not to come across as a thug or a hood
But hon, you got the goods, like Madeline Woods
By the way, my name's Malik
    The Five-Foot Freak
Let's say we get together by the end of the week
She simply said, "No," labelled me a hoe
I said, "How you figure?" "My friends told me so."
I hate when silly groupies wanna run they yap
Word to God, hon, I don't get down like that

I'll have you weak in the knees that you could hardly speak
Or we could do like Uncle L and swing an ep in my jeep
Keep it in the down, yo, we keep it discrete
See, I'm not the type to kid to have my biz in the streets

If my mom dont approve, then I'll just elope
Let me sink the little man from inside the boat
Let me hit it from the back, girl I won't catch a hernia
Bust off on your couch, now you got semen's furniture

Shaheed, Phife and the Extra P
Stacy, ? DJ and my man L.G.
They know the Abstract is really soul on ice
The character is of men, never ever of mice
Shorty let me tell you about my only vice
It has to do with lots of lovin and *it ain't nuthin nice*

Pretty much the letters K and P are reminded here....

November 26, 2004

  • As a medical student I have a lot of free time (sarcasm) so last Sunday some med school buddies of mine went out the Knicks vs Cavs. A chance to watch Lebron James play, possibly the best player in the NBA (thats basketball). Lebron James and the Cavs ended up losing which was dissappointing (we were rooting for the Cavs), but let me tell ya we had a really good time.

It started on the LIRR, Nicole, Stash, Purvi and Dan all took the train together to meet Ramin and Paul, lets just say it started there. We get to the city and go to a local Sbarro to get some food. We get hammered, we bought every little wine bottle they had in there. We meet up with Ramin and Paul and they cracked on all of us, because of our inebriation. We get some more beer at the game and now it got interesting.

Well when Im at a sporting event, I can make a lot of noise, and Im on my way of getting drunk, a state my med school friends have never seen. The antics started, these were the major statements that I said that got the most laughs:

    1. Stephon Marbury is gay.

    2. I just stepped in ***.

    3. LBJ! LBJ!

    4. Man I gotta pee, I think I'm just gonna pee on everyone.

    5. Ramin said- "I wanna bang you"- its from "Girl Next Door."

    6. I put $10,000 if the Knicks lose, I mean if the they win I'm screwed.

    7. I said some other dergotory things about the Knicks which I just shouldnt write.

The section pretty much did not like us but they also loved us, because we were so hilarious. Stash later told me I was funniest person at a sproting event that he is every been with, which is saying a lot. Pretty much I had to step it up a notch on Sunday because the crowd near us sucked. About 5-7 years ago a Knicks ticket in the Garden was the hardest ticket to get and now the crowd doesn't even cheer. Pretty sad.

Then we went to a local pub, which wasnt the best of choices, but we wanted to go the closest one to the LIRR that we could find. First I got screwed at the bar. The bartenders def overcharged me for a few rounds of drinks that I got. Then I made it known that she screwed so they gave us another shot of what they gave us, which kinda evened it out. Then I made a comment at this joke that Nicole thought was funny, but would have been better if it wasnt about her. Some random guy was checking out Nicole while he was talking to me, so I explained to him, "She is spoken for, by him, by him, by him, by him..." (as I was pointing to all our friends).

We get back to the LIRR and we get on the train, where I eventually lost my cell phone, which sucked.

Then the parking lot incident where my friends had to beat me up cause I bit angered, but I wont explain that.

When we get back to our dorm, I was quite sober now, but still a little heated. And now I'm with my suitemates who never have seen me angry. Well pretty much it was me yelling the whole time with comments like this:

-To Anik- How can you get me a new phone even though you dont replace your cheapass phone.

-To Arun- What the hell are you laughing at you Big ***** Piece of ****, get out of my room.

-To Neelash, AKA Goose- What are you even doing here, you dont even leave here, get the **** out.

Pretty much to everyone I yelled to get out, and they all were arguing with me to not leave my dorm to see if I can get my cell phone back. For me I guess this day will live in infamy, some people really didnt like what I had to say... but most knew it was just funny. I just wanted everyone out of my room, I should have said it nicely though....

All in all it was good night, but the worst part was that I lost all the pics on my digital camera. I have no idea what happened. There was about an hour where I didnt have the camera and maybe someone deleted, but that doesnt make sense either. So I dont know. I took about 60 pictures which were pretty cool, but damn. But I deserve that, but my friends dont deserve losing them.

November 13, 2004

  • Happy Diwali for yesterday.

    Sal Mubarak for today.

    Eid Mubarak for tomorrow.

October 31, 2004

  • After a week of midterms, my friends and I (sadily enough no PK, no Staten Island people or Stash) went out to relax and unwind, here are some pics from it:

You can see I was quite exhausted:

If you were PK would you be jealous (cause I know she will be--- haha). Dont worry babay couple of more days... Ive looked much like this for the past three weeks hiding my sadness in you absence, forcing myself to smile.

This is nuts but two posts in one week... Well since no one liked depressing post, you aint gonna like this one...

Well mid terms are over, (3/4- the last one (tomorrow) is not too bad)... I didnt do too great for the amount I actually studied, especially in one class, but its ok... I just gotta fix the way I study and I'll be fine.

But this post has to do with my reading from yesterday. Most of my friends here call me "retarded" which isnt the most "PC term"- of course though in a joking manner, no actual offense is meant.

Yesterday I was reading for Human Embryology and reading over meiosis for about the 20,000th time in my life and reading how the maternal gamete contributes every portion of the embryo except for half of the chromosomes. To put in more lamaen's terms, when sperm and the ovum combine, the sperm only contribute the 23 chromsomes (a pronucleus)... the rest of the embryo is the ovum. The embryo must consist of Golgi complex, peroxisome, Rough endoplasmic reticulum, smooth endoplasmic reticulum and most importantly mitochondria. Why is mitochondria so important, well some of you who have taken biology would say "powerhouse of the cell" which is important, but is also the only part of the cell (other than the nucleus) which houses DNA. Since it has DNA it makes proteins, which is essential to function.

Well if you know or not, the woman is vital to a healthy embryo and moreso a healthy babay---> adult. Doctors, in the past (and even in the present- but less likely), would suggest to older fertile women (40-50) to not have children, because when a woman ages some of her components, especially her "ovums" have degenerated and there is more of a chance that the fetus she is to carry would have numerous complications. Again if anyone has taken biology, you know that Down's Syndorme is most prevalent in people who were in utero when their mother was in her 40s-50s.

Now, where could Vivek be getting to.... patience...

Everyone has flaws, this is true. Compared to my sister and brother (who are in general anywhere 25%- 75% the same as me- in general- obviously the brother being the 50%-75% range), I have much "lesser  expressed genes." Meaning that my genes are not as good. Well the two of them have very characteristics of our parents that are well expressed where mine are not. For example, my sister has very good penmanship and very talent artist, like our mother while my brother has a nose much like my father. These traits and MANY others are well expressed in them and not in me (which makes me think I'm adopted- HAHA). Which in the natural selection world... not fit for survival. If I was a finch I'd be dead by now (Any Darwin lovers out there?).

So why are my genes deficient. Well it finally came to me while I was reading yesterday... I was conceived while my mother was at the age of 39. My mother was at an extreme risk in 1981 to continue her pregnancy also not being one of the most healthiest individuals, was told by her doctor, there could be many risk factors as she tries to finish her term. But she demanded to have her potential child, one reason being that she actually had a miscarriage for her first child, actually stillborn, she actually saw the poor fetus...

So do you see where I'm going with this... I know that there isnt much research done on this but I would be very interested to see the level of expression of traits on children compared to siblings, who had a mother who carried them at a later age. So I can see that my flaws stem from this... Ive actually been trying to figure out the origin to my deficiencies for a very long time, at least 10 years if not longer...

And I'm not saying that I dont have any good expressed traits that I have inherited. I am a very emotional person, whether that is good or not, I'm not sure but I am which I got from my momz. Also from my mother, I'm very altruistic, I would do anything for anyone and anywhere at anytime. Just as my father is great with computation and having a knack for remembering useless facts, I am the same talents.

Actually this is not depressing as I though because it is more of a realization of why I am not as similar to my parents or my siblings. The only sad part is that they have attributes I wish I had... but I guess that doesnt make me.... Me... but nonetheless... its good to have the that case closed.

No more wasted time wondering... God wanted me a certain way...
